Smart Locks

Smart Locks and Keyless Entry

A smart lock is only as good as its installation. We fit the lock to the door, set up the codes, and leave you in control of who gets in.

What we install

Things worth deciding before the install

Do you want a physical key backup? Should the dog walker's code work only on weekday mornings? Does the building allow hardware changes on your door? If you rent, check the lease or ask management first; many Manhattan buildings have rules about door hardware.

Fit matters more than features

Prewar doors are rarely square and mortise pockets rarely match modern templates. The visit starts with the door itself: alignment, backset, and what the frame can take. The lock is chosen to fit the door, not the other way around.

Common questions

What happens when the battery dies?

Most models warn for weeks first, and many keep a keyway or external power contact as a fallback. We walk you through the recovery path for your specific model before we leave.

Can you remove a smart lock a previous tenant installed?

Yes. The door gets returned to a standard cylinder or a fresh smart lock under your own account.
